ELDER'S RETREAT
Ruling Elders in Ministry (REM) Retreat is planned for November 15 - 17 at the University of the Ozarks. Topics chosen so far for the workshop are pastoral care and worship planning. Watch for dates and agenda from Rev. Phil Blackburn, the Director of the Thriving in Rural Ministry program at the University. ________________________________________________________________

MISSIONS
In September we will collect groceries for the food pantry located by Edward Jones in the Fairfield Bay Mall area. The white basket will be marked for food donations for all of September. Hopefully, can make two trips during the month of September for this pantry. Soup, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, alfredo and spaghetti sauce, noodles, Mac & Cheese; just about anything can be given!!!
will ALSO be shopping for Shirley Schools food program. and will contact the school to see what they are in need of.

Bible Study
Bible Study will resume on Tuesday, September 10 in the Kirk Activity Center, following the Welcome Back Luncheon at 12 noon. Wanda Boyd will lead us in the study of lesson seven, "An Ethiopian Eunuch Encounters the Good News of Jesus" (scripture: Acts 8: 26-40). Study Guide is entitled "Sacred Encounters...the Power and Presence of Jesus Christ in Luke-Acts" by Olive Mahabir. There are a couple of study guides left in the church office.
General Meeting on September 10 - 2:00 p.m.
We will meet again on September 10 for a luncheon in the Activities Center. Meeting will include plans for the last four months of the year, selecting recipients for the Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets, and a date to bake cookies that will be needed to deliver around Christmas. We also want to discuss the Angel Tree that was always a part of Advent for so many years before COVID and how to instigate that program again, as well as the Gifts of Women worship service.

Presbytery of Arkansas Honduras Mission Trip
March 15-22,2025
High physical ability and Spanish-speaking skills are NOT required. Attending Orientation
meetings is required to prepare participants. 18 people or less will be selected. The estimated participant cost is $1,400-$1,700, and many churches offer scholarships.
Apply for a Passport now, if needed.
- An informational meeting will be on Zoom at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov 7, 2024.
- Applications are due on Dec. 1, 2024.
- Funds are due Feb. 1, 2025.

NEW PASTOR
Pastor Davis comes to us from the First Presbyterian Church in Newport, AR. Originally from Ellwood, PA, he attended Arkansas State Univ and the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa . We are very happy to have Pastor Jim and his wife, Mary join our congregation.
